  1. "her wet eyelids" speaks volumes, Marie. I love boiling a story down to just this - just enough. Lovely.

  2. Dear Karen,

I find it is in the boiling that enables
me to blanket myself in the words, thoughts
    of an author.

    Thank you.

  7. I haven't read any Nabokov in a couple of years - the last was The Defence - but these are very evocative. I love the haiku form but haven't the spiritual discipline for it myself. I suppose I don't need to say that I like the idea of taking some other text as a jumping off point. Thanks for joining me over at Secret Poems. I look forward to more of your work.

  8. Dear Mairi,

Oh, but your poetry does reveal a spiritual
discipline, Mairi. I am addicted to literature,
birthing other pieces of literature. Tremendous
to have found your exciting blog.

    Thank you.

  9. I just reread your profile and noticed your obsession with fine pens. You might check out this site - http://thistlepens.com/. I have two of this man's pens and my daughter has a beautiful perfume applicator to carry her Chanel #5 to school in. Wonderful workmanship and a real eye for style.

  10. Dear Mairi,

I just took a delightful tour through
Thistle Pens. The fountain pen is making my
heart beat wildly. Thank you, Mairi for
sending me this link. For the Holidays I
shall treat myself. Your daughter sounds
    like a supreme class act.
